A Los Angeles law firm is seeking a General Liability Defense Attorney with 3–5 years of direct insurance defense experience to join its litigation team. The role involves managing a diverse caseload from inception to resolution, representing carriers and insured clients, drafting pleadings, and developing case strategy.

Ideal candidates will have a J.D., active CA Bar, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with experienced litigators.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the California Bar in good standing.
• 3–5 years of direct insurance defense experience required.
• Experience handling general liability litigation from inception through resolution.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of general liability and insurance defense matters.
• Represent insurance carriers, businesses, and insured clients through all phases of litigation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategy.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
• Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, and experts.
• Evaluate liability, damages, and litigation exposure.
• Prepare cases for trial and assist with trial proceedings.
