Job summary

Etched.ai is hiring a General Ledger Accountant, Close to own critical month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. The role focuses on ensuring accuracy of the general ledger and reliable financial reporting, while building scalable close workflows.

Collaborate with AP, AR, Inventory, and Payroll teams, and contribute to process improvements and controls as the company scales. Strong accounting experience and technical knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience owning close processes end-to-end in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle; scale systems in high growth.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting concepts.

Job Summary

We're hiring a General Ledger Accountant, Close to own critical elements of our month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close and support scalable close process. This is a hands‑on role focused on the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring financial results are complete, timely, and properly supported.

You'll be close to the details - owning core close deliverables - while also helping design systems and workflows that scale as the company grows. This role is well‑suited for someone who enjoys the rigor of technical close work, understands how transactional activity flows through to the financial statements, and wants real ownership over a critical financial function.

As a GL Accountant, you'll manage day‑to‑day ledger activities while helping build the controls and processes that scale with us. You'll work cross‑functionally with AP, AR, Inventory, and Payroll teams to support accurate, reliable financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Close Ownership:

• Maintain and manage the close calendar, coordinating tasks and deadlines across accounting and cross‑functional teams

• Prepare, post and/or review journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, amortization schedules, fixed assets/depreciation, leases, and intercompany transactions

• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations for assigned accounts and resolve reconciling items timely

• Prepare flux analysis for balance sheet and P&L accounts, investigating and explaining period‑over‑period variances

• Ensure subledgers (AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets) tie out to the general ledger each period

• Review trial balance for unusual or unsupported entries prior to close finalization

Internal Control:

• Maintain organized close documentation (workpapers, reconciliations, journal entry support) to support internal reviews and audits

• Ensure journal entries have proper approval, supporting documentation, and adherence to segregation‑of‑duties policies

• Maintain up‑to‑date process documentation and desktop procedures for close workflows

• Support periodic internal control reviews, walkthroughs, and testing

• Support external audit and internal audit requests, including preparation of PBC (prepared‑by‑client) items

Systems & Scaling:

• Maintain accurate configuration of chart of accounts, entities, segments, and classes within the ERP

• Support integration between the ERP, subledgers, and other connected financial systems

• Support system setup for new entities, currencies, and jurisdictions as the company expands

• Standardize close processes and checklists to reduce manual intervention and close timeline

• Identify and implement automation opportunities within the close cycle

Cross‑Functional Reporting:

• Own preparing monthly and quarterly financial statement packages

• Support operationalizing technical accounting memos on non‑routine or complex transactions

• Own multi‑entity consolidations and intercompany eliminations

• Support operationalizing revenue recognition, lease accounting, and other technical accounting areas as applicable

• Partner with AP, AR, Inventory, and Payroll teams to ensure accurate, reconciled handoffs into the GL and resolve cross‑departmental discrepancies

• Support ad hoc data requests, schedules, and analysis for Finance leadership and external reporting

You may be a good fit if you have

• Experience owning close processes end‑to‑end in a fast‑paced environment

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent; comfort with scaling systems in a high‑growth environment

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

• CPA or equivalent experience required

• Strong understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting concepts

• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills to work effectively across departments
