General Ledger Accountant for a 125+ employee (and growing) remote education non-profit providing professional learning to K-12 educators nationally

Compensation:

The full salary range for this position is $65,500 - $99,075 annually. The anticipated hiring range is $65,500 - $86,401, with salaries generally capped at 105% of the midpoint ($86,401) to support growth. Experience considered includes relevant professional experience and total work experience, including internships and part-time roles.

Position Summary

The General Ledger Accountant manages the organization’s general ledger, ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. Responsibilities include managing the monthly close process, reconciliations, and maintaining schedules for prepaids and accruals. Expertise in intercompany accounting is essential, as this role handles transactions between the nonprofit and its for-profit subsidiary.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Accounting - General Ledger and Financial Reporting: Support monthly close, prepare reconciliations, generate reports using Sage Intacct, perform variance analysis, and assist with audits and budgeting.
2. Accounting - Intercompany Transactions: Manage all intercompany activities, ensure proper documentation, and record elimination entries for consolidated reporting.
3. Cross-functional Collaboration: Support payroll and accounts payable, collaborate across departments, provide financial data, and support training initiatives.
4. Continuous Learning and Other Duties: Stay updated on industry standards, participate in organizational learning, and perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in automated accounting environments.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit standards, and experience with Sage Intacct or similar systems.
• Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
• Excellent documentation skills and experience with financial statement analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree or CPA.
• Experience in the education sector.
