LHH Recruitment Solutions in Newark, CA is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join a collaborative finance team on a hybrid schedule. You will contribute to month-end closes, payroll accounting, and financial reporting while driving process improvements across accounting functions.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance with at least 3 years of general ledger experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and a detail-oriented, analytical mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• At least 3 years in general ledger or corporate accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, and other general ledger activities.
• Manage payroll-related general ledger accounts, including compensation accruals, bonuses, incentives, payroll taxes, and benefit expenses.
• Analyze payroll-related GL accounts, perform reconciliations, and investigate variances.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Monitor account activity, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly.
• Utilize reconciliation and close-management tools to support a streamlined close process.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Support financial reporting and maintain strong internal controls over accounting processes.
• Provide schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for audits.
• Assist with audit inquiries and facilitate the audit process.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reduce manual effort.

We're looking for a General Ledger Accountant to join a collaborative finance team where you'll play a vital role in month-end close, payroll accounting, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives. What You'll Do

• Support monthly and year-end close processes through the preparation and posting of journal entries related to accruals, prepaid expenses, and other general ledger activities.
• Manage accounting associated with payroll, including compensation accruals, bonuses, incentives, payroll taxes, and employee benefit expenses.
• Analyze payroll-related general ledger accounts, perform reconciliations, and investigate variances.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Monitor account activity, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Utilize reconciliation and close-management tools to support a streamlined and well-documented financial close process.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Support financial reporting activities and maintain strong internal controls over accounting processes.
• Provide schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for internal and external audit requests.
• Assist with audit inquiries and help facilitate a smooth audit process.
• Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual effort.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience working in general ledger accounting, month-end close, or corporate accounting environments. At least 3 years of related experience.
• Strong understanding of account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting best practices.
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively across departments.
• Experience with ERP systems and close management software is a plus.

Pay Details: Per Hour for this contract role at $43.23 to $48.12 per hour.

Location: Newark, CA

Schedule: Hybrid

This role will start in 1-2 weeks and duration will be into January 2027 with possible extension or temp to hire.
