Caton Construction Group is a Heavy/Highway Civil & General Construction company with offices in Troy, Virginia, and Cary, North Carolina, and is part of The Caton Companies. We are currently seeking a General Laborer for our Bridge & Roadway Project in Winston-Salem, NC.

THIS JOB POSTING IS FOR OUR WINSTON-SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA, BRIDGE & ROADWAY PROJECT.

STARTING PAY is negotiable and based on skills and experience.

Your Job Summary

The construction laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at general building and highway/heavy construction projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools, and may include site cleaning, trench digging, setting supports, scaffolding, debris removal, and assisting other craft workers.

Your Responsibilities

• Perform strenuous manual labor in construction projects.
• Shovel asphalt into construction areas.
• Excavate and fill trenches and ditches.
• Maintain a clean job site and secure tools and equipment daily.
• Handle and store materials.
• Load/unload trucks and transport materials.
• Follow safety and incident reporting procedures.
• Assist Foremen and Supervisors, including mixing, pouring, erecting form work.
• May perform traffic control and flagging duties.
• Operate equipment adhering to safety practices.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with potential for overnight stays and weekend work.

Travel/Driving

Primarily local travel, with some out-of-area and overnight travel. Valid driver’s license required or obtainable prior to employment.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License. 2+ years of heavy highway experience, including roads, bridges, DOT, or site work projects.

Additional Qualifications

Valid CDL, OSHA 10-hour training, or Flagger Certification are a plus.
