Active Construction Inc. is seeking a diligent union laborer to support construction, maintenance, and repair projects across sites in the area. You will work under supervision of skilled tradespeople and foremen, following union guidelines and safety policies.

The role requires physical endurance, the ability to work outdoors in various weather, and reliable teamwork. Union membership or willingness to join is expected, with potential for local travel and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
  • Experience in construction or general labor is a plus.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Membership in a labor union or willingness to join.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in site preparation and cleanup, setting up work areas.
  • Load, unload, and transport materials and tools on site.
  • Dig trenches, backfill, and prepare foundations as needed.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment.
  • Mix and place concrete, asphalt, or other materials.
  • Support carpenters, masons, and other tradespeople.
  • Follow safety guidelines and wear PPE; participate in safety meetings.
  • Maintain clean, safe work sites and erect/dismantle scaffolding as required.
  • Perform basic demolition work when necessary.

They work under the direction of skilled tradespeople, site supervisors, or foremen while adhering to union guidelines and workplace safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in site preparation, including clearing debris and setting up work areas.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials and tools.
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth for foundations.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment as required.
  • Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, or other construction materials.
  • Support carpenters, masons, and other tradespeople with their tasks.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in safety meetings.
  • Maintain and clean job sites to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, and temporary structures.
  • Perform basic demolition work when necessary.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred but not always required).
  • Previous experience in construction or general labor (a plus).
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
