Job Opportunity: Grounds Maintenance Worker

This role involves routine, semi-skilled manual labor focused on maintaining City grounds and facilities. Responsibilities include:

1. Cutting grass and weeds
2. Raking grass and trash
3. Trimming, cutting down, and removing trees and shrubs
4. Digging and refilling ditches
5. Loading and unloading trucks
6. Conditioning walls and woodwork for painting
7. Performing minor repairs to sewers, septic tanks, catch basins, and manholes
8. Driving a City vehicle (non-CDL required)
9. Washing and steaming vehicles, tools, and equipment in the automotive shop

This position is classified as an “Essential Position” for Emergency Management purposes, requiring 24/7 availability during City of Miami emergencies, as determined by City Officials.

Qualifications include:

• Six (6) months of experience performing unskilled labor
• A valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to Florida Class E) at application; a Florida driver’s license (Class E or higher) is required prior to appointment and must be maintained valid
• Preferred education: Eighth grade or equivalent
