Nature of Work

This position involves routine, semi-skilled manual labor in maintaining City grounds and facilities. Responsibilities include cutting grass and weeds, raking grass and trash, trimming and removing trees and shrubs, digging and refilling ditches, loading and unloading trucks, and preparing walls and woodwork for painting. The work is outdoors and may require working in inclement weather, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 80 lbs. Minor repairs to sewers, septic tanks, catch basins, and manholes may also be required. The role may involve driving a City vehicle not requiring a CDL and washing/steam cleaning vehicles and equipment in the automotive shop.

Essential Functions

• Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks
• Assist with minor repairs and vehicle maintenance
• Operate City vehicles as needed
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Perform heavy lifting and manual labor tasks
• Be available for emergency duties during City emergencies, 24/7 as required

Minimum Requirements

• Six (6) months of experience in performing unskilled labor
• A valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to Florida Class E); Florida driver’s license required prior to appointment and must be maintained valid
• Eighth grade education preferred
