Job summary

BlueScope Recycling and Materials LLC in Delta, OH is seeking a General Laborer to assist in production, loading and unloading materials from machines and conveyors, and supporting packaging and wrapping tasks. The role requires following safety PPE and working in a fast-paced environment with potential overtime.

The position involves stacking, banding, crate building, and routine housekeeping while following supervisor directions and participating in continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment as directed (where trained).

Company DescriptionBlueScope Recycling is a full-service, ferrous scrap metal recycler with processing facilities in Waterloo, IN, Delta, OH, and Mansfield, OH. BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service.Summary: Under direct supervision, the General Laborer assists in the production process by loading and unloading material from machines, conveyors, and mobile equipment; supplying or holding materials or tools; placing material in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting, or wrapping; as well as stacking and banding material or products. This position can use heavy equipment, such as a skid steer, forklift, front loader, and/or a crane.Duties and Responsibilities:Assists by loading and unloading material from machines, conveyors, etc using heavy equipment, such as, but not limited to, a skid steer, forklift, front loader and/or a crane.Assists in the placement of products on equipment or work surfaces, supplying or holding materials or tools.Wraps, stacks and bands material or products.Builds or assembles crates.Actively participates in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.Perform housekeeping, 5-S, and other duties as assigned.Perform physical duties associated with equipment operation.Follow the direction of the Area Supervisor regarding daily production and activities to complete the job.Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment as required.Always follow the dress code and compliance with proper PPE.Work independently without direct supervision.Required Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDMust have effective communication and interpersonal skills and appropriately supervise other employees.Must be able to appropriately work with and otherwise interact with other company associates, customers, vendors, and the public.Problem solving skillsReading and writing skillsBasic math skillsWilling to work overtime and weekends when necessaryPreferred Qualifications:1+ year experience in a manufacturing environmentQuantitative Scope:No budget responsibilityNo direct/indirect reportsWork authorization:No sponsorship availableAdditional InformationThe preceding job responsibilities and tasks were designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by associates in this job.
