Job summary

Eddie Kane Steel Products is seeking a General Laborer to provide the physical labor required to complete customer orders safely and efficiently. Hours are Monday through Friday 6:00am-2:30pm.

You will move raw materials between work centers, operate hand and power tools, and perform secondary operations such as drilling, punching, bending, grinding, and torch cutting. The role emphasizes quality, safety, and accurate production documentation.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Basic reading and mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Dexterity skills & Balance.

Responsibilities

• Move raw material, work in process, and finished goods into and between work centers.
• Operate hand and power tools to clean finished materials and to complete minor repairs.
• Operate other machinery to complete secondary operations such as drilling, punching, bending, grinding, torch cutting, shearing, flattening, etc.
• Move finished material onto skids for final packaging.
• Maintain pace with equipment operators to ensure material flows smoothly into and out of individual work centers and prevent back up or delays.
• Use basic measuring tools to maintain quality standards on each order.
• Maintain neat and accurate written production documentation as required.
• Read, interpret, and understand the job requirements of each customer order. Communicate with foreman to ensure a complete understanding of all information.
• Communicate all pertinent job related information to foreman on a daily basis.
• Report any problems or quality concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

As a steel service center and distributor of hot-rolled prime and non-prime steel plate, Eddie Kane Steel sells on- and off-gauge, pattern and non-pattern plate sizes, ranging in thickness from 3/16 to 8 inches. With two plasma burning machines (including high-definition plasma machines), plate thicknesses up to 14 inches can be cut. Our oxy-fuel cutting capabilities include several multi-torch multi-head machines with several hundred feet of cutting surface.
