B.I.D. (Basic Industrial Design) is a custom design and manufacturing team that provides and maintains tailored solutions to our client’s unique business problems.

McDonough Manufacturing is a family-owned manufacturer of custom sawmill machinery with over 130 years of experience, headquartered in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and expanded into Canada in 2017. In 2023, McDonough acquired BID Canada Ltd., a leading company in custom dry bulk material handling solutions. Based in Woodstock, New Brunswick, BID Canada Ltd. designs, manufactures, and installs high-quality equipment for industries including cement, mining, ports, power generation, pulp & paper, and steel. Together, McDonough and BID Canada delivers innovative, in-house solutions to clients across North America and around the world.

McDonough | BID Canada Ltd is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented General Labourer to join our on-site Production Team. This position will be working in a manufacturing facility that specializes in the production of conveyors and other types of custom industrial machinery. This is a hands-on role supporting various departments, including fabrication, assembly, painting, and shipping.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the assembly, fabrication, and finishing of metal components.
• Load and unload materials, parts, and equipment as needed.
• Operate basic hand and power tools to assist skilled tradespeople.
• Perform general shop cleanup and organization duties.
• Assist with packaging and preparing equipment for shipping.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Support welders, machinists, and painters as needed on the shop floor.
• Help move and position large parts using forklifts, hoists, or dollies (training provided if necessary).
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or lead hand.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment is an asset, but not required.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn.
• Comfortable with physical labour, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for long periods.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools.
• Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus (training can be provided)
• Fast-paced industrial shop with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
• Use of PPE, including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
