Responsibilities

  • Assists in a variety of plant activities including cleanup, piling, packaging, and maintenance support.
  • Follow environmental and safety procedures and report unsafe activities.
  • Understand assigned tasks and ask questions if unsure.
  • Perform end-of-day cleanup and housekeeping of work areas.
  • Provide Fire Watch duties as needed to support maintenance.
  • May operate a vehicle, forklift, or tractor as required.
  • Attend safety trainings and keep required certifications updated.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Summary

The General Laborer assists in the performance of a variety of plant activities from clean-up, stick laying, packaging, maintenance support, etc.

Essential Functions/Duties
  • Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non-compliant activities.
  • Performs a variety of routine physical labor tasks, as assigned. Areas could include maintenance, stacking, kilns, shipping, receiving, treating, yard maintenance.
  • Understand the job assigned and ask questions if uncertain.
  • Perform cleanup at the end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, spills, and debris, cleaning work areas and performing touch-up work as needed.
  • Perform Fire Watch duties as needed to support the maintenance team.
  • May operate a vehicle, forklift, or tractor.
  • Attend all training sessions and safety meetings
  • Computer duties as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. It could be hot, cold, humid, and/or rainy. May require climbing of heights up to 100 feet.

Training Requirements

Immediately upon hire or assignment to the Forklift Operator position, training will take place in Safety and Environmental programs. Annual training over all programs.
