Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs is hiring a General Laborer for our SLC location in Warren, MI. The role involves processing scrap metals using various tools and equipment, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and adherence to procedures.

You will load/unload materials, sort metals, and operate mobile equipment while maintaining clean work areas and following safety protocols. Prior forklift or heavy equipment experience is preferred, and a team-oriented attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Experience operating mobile equipment is preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to follow oral and written communication.
• Ability to climb ladders or steps to reach objects.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work cooperatively with others and the public.
• Must be able to work in dusty, dirty, variable conditions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety standards and use of PPE.
• Load and unload materials using mobile equipment or by hand.
• Sort materials to separate high-grade metals and remove non-conforming items.
• Operate and maintain mobile equipment (forklifts, skid steers, street sweeper, water trucks).
• Perform tasks using a variety of hand tools and power tools.
• Identify scrap by grade and type and note undesirable elements.
• Remove fluids from incoming materials or vehicles as required.
• Perform cleaning duties on plant equipment and housekeeping.
• Assist mechanics in maintaining equipment.
• Interact with customers or drivers to direct or assist them.
• Perform other general laborer tasks as required.

Summary ofResponsibilities:

• Ensure adherence to safety standards including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), remove hazards asidentified, andmaintaincleanliness of the site.

• Load and unload materials from storage,productionareas, docks, delivery vehicles,staging areas,or containers using mobile equipment or by hand.

• Sort a variety of recycled materials and metals to separate out high-grade metals andremovesany non-conforming metals.

• Operate&maintainmobile equipment including but not limited to forklifts, skid steers, streetsweeper, and/or water trucks.

• Perform tasks involving physical labor using tools, including but not limited to standard hand tools, torch, bander, chop saw, alligator shear, sawzall, and wire snips.

• Identifyscrapincludingthe grade and type of material and any undesirable elements within the material.

• Remove fluids from incoming materials or vehicles asrequired.

• Perform cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeeping

• Assistsmechanics in the maintenance of equipment including plant equipment

• Interacts with customers or drivers to direct orassistthem

• Performs other general laborer tasks asrequired
