Job summary

Alter-Trading is seeking a General Laborer for its Harrison, AR operations. Under supervision, you will assist with in-coming material inspection and processing for customer shipments, and help sort scrap metal according to specifications.

You may operate heavy machinery, move materials around the yard, and support auto de-manufacturing tasks. A high school diploma or GED is preferred; training is provided where needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Experience operating heavy machinery is preferred but training will be provided.
• Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs and 100+ lbs with a two-person lift.
• Ability to interact with customers and vendors in a friendly manner.

Responsibilities

• Assist in in-coming material inspection processes.
• Assist in processing material for customer shipment.
• Identify, grade and sort different grades of scrap iron and steel.
• Sort and process iron according to customer specifications.
• May assist with auto de-manufacturing function.
• Move material around the yard using equipment.
• Follow safety standards and wear PPE.

Summary

Under supervision, may assist in the in-coming material inspection process; may also assist in the processing of material for customer shipment.

• May identify, grade and/or sort different grades of scrap iron and steel. Includes reviewing all in-bound material for non-conforming items
• May sort and process iron according to customer specifications
• May assist with auto de-manufacturing function
• Shovel fluff as needed to keep build-up from piling up around conveyors
• May move other material in the yard utilizing equipment
• Other responsibilities as assigned or required

Safety

Wears all necessary Personal Protective Equipment when working in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow ALL safety requirements may result in loss of position.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred but not required. Must be able to interact with customers and vendors in a friendly and courteous manner.

Prior experience operating heavy machinery preferred but not required as we will train candidates. Some mechanical know-how necessary. May use hand tools for minor repairs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs and 100+lbs on 2-person lift.
