Job summary

Alter Trading Corporation is seeking a General Laborer for the Production area in Wausau, WI. You will assist with loading and unloading material, sort metals for processing, and operate basic mechanized equipment under supervision.

Candidates should be able to lift 30–50 lbs and up to 100+ lbs with a two-person lift; prior forklift experience is beneficial but training will be provided. Adherence to safety standards is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Candidate must be able to interact with suppliers/customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Prior experience operating forklift or other machinery is beneficial but not required as we will train candidates.

Responsibilities

• Assist with loading material for shipment and unloading from customer vehicles or trucks, and sorting material into appropriate areas for processing.
• Use mechanized equipment to sort and/or break down material for customer use.
• Inspects inbound material received from suppliers.
• Identifies and sorts metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, stainless steel and various other metals.
• Weighs and packages scrap metal in appropriate manner by placing in boxes, on pallets or into baling equipment.
• Moves material in the yard or warehouse area utilizing forklift, skid loader, or payloader.
• Other responsibilities as assigned or required.

Metal Recycling Warehouse Production & Customer Service

Safety:

Candidates must wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment when working outside of the office. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow safety requirements may result in loss of position.
