Base pay range

$18.00/hr - $18.00/hr

Position Summary

The General Laborer supports the municipal team by performing a variety of physical tasks at job sites. This role is essential in assisting with utility maintenance, site preparation, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Essential Functions

• Assist crew members with detecting underground utilities defects and performing pipe maintenance
• Load, unload and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites
• Use hand tools such as shovels, probes, spades, post hole diggers to dig and expose utilities
• Identify and mark utility defects for the Operator
• Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained
• Assemble camera crawlers to meet the pipe specifications
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
• Maintain a clean, organized and hazard-free work environment
• Perform additional duties as assigned
  
  

Knowledge, Skill, And Abilities

• Ability to follow specific directions and work collaboratively with a team
• Strong work ethic and ability to perform physically demanding tasks
• Basic knowledge of utility repair and installation is preferred
• Ability to adapt to changing job site conditions
• Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision
• Strong awareness of worksite safety and adherence to safety protocols
  
  

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 0-1 year experience in utility maintenance, construction or a related field (preferred); on-the-job training available
  
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Regularly required to bend, squat, crouch, reach and lift 50+ pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual labor for extended periods
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain
• May be required to work in confined spaces and/or near heavy equipment
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including hard hats, gloves, and safety vests
