Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT), a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs, is one of North America's leading processors, buyers, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals. We are seeking a General Laborer on 1st Shift at our Cleveland, OH location. The role involves processing scrap metals using various tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety standards, including PPE use, hazard removal, and site cleanliness.
• Load and unload materials using mobile equipment or by hand.
• Sort recycled materials and metals, separating high-grade metals and removing non-conforming metals.
• Operate and maintain mobile equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, street sweepers, and water trucks.
• Perform physical labor tasks using tools like hand tools, torches, banders, chop saws, shears, and wire snips.
• Identify scrap types and grades, and detect undesirable elements.
• Remove fluids from incoming materials or vehicles as needed.
• Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties.
• Assist mechanics with equipment maintenance.
• Interact with customers or drivers to direct or assist them.
• Perform other general labor tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Experience operating mobile equipment preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to climb ladders or steps.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in dusty, dirty, vibratory, and extreme weather conditions.
• Pre-employment background, physical, and drug screening required.
