Job summary

Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) is hiring for a Production Operative in Sanborn, IA. This full-time, on-site role supports cheese production with emphasis on safety, sanitation, and accurate recordkeeping.

Responsibilities include assembling materials, cleaning equipment, operating vacuum chambers, weighing and tagging carts, and training new staff as needed. AMPI offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits while promoting dairy product quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble carts and place cheesecloth and liners into boxes.
  • Carts and pans must be rinsed to remove soil and debris before bottom washer.
  • Clean, sanitize and re-clean carts and pans if soil is located.
  • Load/unload carts into a vacuum chamber and monitor vacuum time/pressure.
  • Seal cheese blocks.
  • Inspect, weigh and tag carts.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and keep work areas organized.
  • Maintain documentation in all recordkeeping formats.
  • Adhere to safety, sanitation, and site policies.
  • Assist with training new employees as experience is gained.
  • Assist maintenance with machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  • Follow GMP, Quality and Food Safety policies; report nonconformities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  • This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  • Assemble carts and place cheesecloth and liners into boxes.
  • Carts and pans need to be thoroughly rinsed in order to remove any soil/debris prior being placed in the bottom washer.
  • Clean and sanitize and all carts and pans. Inspect and re-clean and sanitize if any soil or debris is located.
  • Load and unload carts into a vacuum chamber and monitor the chamber to ensure proper vacuum pressure and time is met according to the specification.
  • Seal the blocks.
  • Inspect, weigh, and tag carts.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and cleanup of equipment, keeping work areas organized.
  • Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping
  • Adhere to all aspects of company and customer safety, sanitation and site policies.
  • Once experience is gain, assists with training new employees.
  • Provides assistance to the maintenance personnel, when needed, for machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  • Adhere to all Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  • Adhere to all GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
