Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Helper to safely assist mechanics and shop personnel around bays, supporting the Plant Supervisor and Manager at the EWSWA MRF to keep systems performing reliably.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning, preventative maintenance, system repairs, inventory tracking, and prioritizing tasks to minimize downtime, while following safety procedures and using required PPE. Visa sponsorship is not provided; valid work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Wear all mandatory personal protective equipment as assigned.
• Follow all safety procedures as outlined by regulations and Health and Safety policies.
• Report all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards to supervision immediately.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of screens and shafts.
• Daily cleaning of accumulation around all screens.
• Ensure that the facility and work areas are kept clean and organized.
• Clean up outside around bins and compactor while system is running.
• Cleaning of Specialty Equipment (Opticals, Eddy Current, etc.).
• Preventative Maintenance and Inspections.
• System Mechanical Repairs.
• Inventory and tracking of critical spare parts.
• Must be ready to prioritize and adjust assignments accordingly to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner and minimize potential downtime.
• Perform system maintenance as per priority sequence and conduct emergency repairs when required.

Job description

Safely assist Mechanics and other shop personnel in daily responsibilities around the bays or as directed by Supervisor/Manager. To work in cooperation with the Plant Manager aiding in the repairs/maintenance of all aspects of the operating system at the EWSWA MRF to ensure optimal system performance.
