Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a General Laborer to join Team Green at the Baytown, TX site. You will support daily cleaning, organization of work areas, and basic maintenance activities as the plant operates. The role emphasizes safety, PPE use, and responsiveness to priority tasks.

You will be expected to work outdoors in all weather, lift up to 50 lbs, and follow all applicable regulations. Welding experience is a plus and may lead to growth opportunities within the team.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of screens and shafts.
• Daily cleaning of accumulation around all screens.
• Keep facility and work areas clean and organized.
• Clean up outside around bins and compactor while system is running.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Inventory and track critical spare parts.
• Prioritize and adjust tasks to prevent downtime.
• Perform system maintenance per priority sequence and conduct emergency repairs.

What you’ll do:

• In cooperation with Plant Manager, you are to ensure the assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner which includes, but is not limited to:


• Daily cleaning of screens and shafts.


• Daily cleaning of accumulation around all screens.


• Ensure that the facility and work areas are kept clean and organized.


• Clean up outside around bins and compactor while system is running.


• Preventative Maintenance and Inspections.


• Inventory and tracking of critical spare parts.


• Must be ready to prioritize and adjust assignments accordingly to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner and minimize potential downtime.


• Perform system maintenance as per priority sequence and conduct emergency repairs when required.

What’s required:

• Wear all mandatory personal protective equipment as assigned.


• Follow all safety procedures as outlined by the Safety Act, Applicable Industrial Regulations, Federal, Provincial, State, Municipal regulations, Health and Safety policies and procedures.


• Report all accident, incidents, near misses and hazards to supervision immediately.


• Ability to work outdoors in all element


• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs


• Welding experience is preferred
