Job summary

Greif, a global packaging leader, seeks an entry-level General Labor-Converting Associate in Milwaukee. You will support mill production operations, perform basic tasks, and learn processes under supervision. Shifts include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with potential weekend work to meet demand.

Starting pay is $23.26 per hour, rising to $26.71 after 90 days, with opportunities for further skill growth and competitive benefits. Prior manufacturing exposure is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role supporting mill production operations under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assists machine operators and area leads with basic production tasks.
• Performs manual handling of raw materials and finished goods.
• Monitors and maintains cleanliness of assigned work areas on the production floor.
• Participates in training programs to learn mill processes, safety procedures, and equipment functions.
• Supports process flow by preparing supplies, checking for defects, removing waste and scrap materials.
• Follows all safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including PPE and lockout/tagout.
• Communicates effectively with teammates and supervisors and completes shift handoff tasks.

Job Description:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Entry-level colleague who supports mill production operations by performing routine tasks under close supervision.

Shift Availability

• Starts on 1st Shift - 6:30am - 2:30pm and will require moving to second shift and/or third shift for periods of time based on business necessity.

• 2nd Shift Hours : 2:30pm-10:30pm

• 3rd Shift Hours: 10:30pm-6:30am

• Also required to work 10 - 12 hour shifts and weekends as needed to meet customer demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists machine operators and area leads with basic production tasks, including threading support in Wet End or Dry End, cleanup, and material prep.
• Performs manual handling of raw materials and finished goods, such as stacking, wrapping, labeling, and staging.
• Monitors and maintains cleanliness of assigned work areas, ensuring safe and orderly conditions on the production floor.
• Participates in training programs to build knowledge of mill processes, safety procedures, and equipment functions.
• Supports process flow by preparing supplies, checking for defects, or removing waste and scrap materials.
• Follows all safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including the proper use of PPE and adherence to lockout/tagout protocols.
• Communicates effectively with teammates and supervisors, reporting concerns, progress, and equipment issues as needed.
• Completes basic documentation or checklists related to housekeeping, material counts, or shift handoff activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Hourly Pay Rate

• Starting $23.26 per hour, after successful completion of 90 days pay rate is $26.71 per hour.

Education & Experience

• Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 0-2 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic understanding of industrial or manufacturing processes.
• Ability to safely perform manual material handling and operate basic tools.
• Awareness of machine hazards, PPE, and safety procedures.
• Willingness to learn production terminology and equipment functions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Dependable team player with good communication and work ethic.
