Job summary

Garrette Homes is seeking a dedicated General Labor professional to support construction projects across the Puget Sound region. The role involves site cleanup, maintenance, and minor repairs to uphold high workmanship standards.

The position requires a high school diploma, a reliable vehicle, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. CESCL licensing may be pursued with company assistance.

  • Ability to regularly and safely use a pressure washer.
  • Interest in professional growth and development.
  • Knowledge of basic home repairs is beneficial.
  • Willingness to obtain CESCL license (licensing fees reimbursed).
  • Strong work ethic, accountability and reliability.
  • Ability to manage records, prioritize tasks and travel to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • General Labor Assistance: assist Site Superintendents with labor tasks and site cleanup.
  • Community Maintenance: keep the community clean and well-kept by removing trash and debris.
  • Stormwater BMP Maintenance: perform stormwater BMP tasks to control erosion.
  • Warranty Item Management: assist with warranty punch list and minor touch-ups.
  • Trade Progress Assessment: support Site Superintendent and attend inspections.
  • Quality Control Checks: complete QC check sheets before New Home Orientations QC sign-off.
  • Minor Warranty Repairs: handle paint touch-ups, caulking and fixing loose fixtures.
  • Miscellaneous Responsibilities: adapt to duties assigned by Site Superintendents and Construction Manager.

JOB MISSION

At Garrette Homes, our General Labor position plays a vital role in supporting our construction projects by providing general labor assistance, ensuring the maintenance of our communities, and contributing to the quality and success of our homebuilding endeavors. This full-time or temporary full-time position is dedicated to maintaining high standards of workmanship and cleanliness on our job sites.

Job Responsibilities
  • General Labor Assistance: Assist Site Superintendents with various general labor tasks, including pressure washing, site cleanup, and minor repairs, to ensure project progress.
  • Community Maintenance: Maintain the appearance of the community by identifying and removing trash and debris, contributing to a clean and well‑kept environment.
  • Stormwater BMP Maintenance: Occasionally perform stormwater BMP maintenance to control erosion and runoff, contributing to environmental conservation efforts.
  • Warranty Item Management: Assist with the warranty item punch list and complete minor touch‑up tasks before new home delivery, ensuring a high‑quality final product.
  • Trade Progress Assessment: Support the Site Superintendent by assessing the progress of trades and attending municipal inspections at scattered lot (OYL) locations as requested.
  • Quality Control Checks: Complete General Laborer Quality (QC) check sheets before QC sign‑off for New Home Orientations, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Minor Warranty Repairs: Perform minor warranty repairs as assigned, addressing tasks such as paint touch‑ups, caulking, and fixing loose doorknobs or fixtures.
  • Miscellaneous Responsibilities: Be adaptable to various duties as assigned by Site Superintendents and the Construction Manager, contributing to the overall success of construction projects.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Reliable vehicle capable of hauling tools and supplies needed to perform job‑related tasks (vehicle allowance provided).
  • Ability to regularly and safely use a pressure washer.
  • Interest in professional growth and development.
  • Knowledge of basic home repairs is beneficial but not required.
  • Willingness to obtain Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) license (licensing fees reimbursed by the company).
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, reliability, initiative, and personal responsibility for getting the work done.
  • Ability to maintain records, prioritize tasks, and plan travel schedules to multiple sites.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
  • Position subject to pre‑employment drug testing, including THC.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based job sites with regular travel throughout the Puget Sound area.
