We are looking for a highly driven individual that will prepare products and materials for the galvanizing process by hanging angle on spreader bars, staging tubular products, and preparing small parts for galvanizing. Day and night shifts available.Essential FunctionsInspect and ensure the safe use and disposition of production fixtures, chains and hooksHand wire small to medium-sized parts to racks for pickling or galvanizingPull and place chains and ropes around steel bundles for rackingMove lightweight pieces of steel by hand from different locations in the plant and yardPerform paddling functions to enhance the quality level of the various galvanized products using air guns to blow off zinc needlesUse air or electric powered tools to help prepare or clean up steel for pickling or galvanizingAssist in general plant clean up and housekeepingWork safely, protecting self and others from accident and injuryRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate:The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructionsThe ability to accurately read a tape measureThe ability to communicate problems or needs to departmental supervisionThe ability to lift up to 50 pounds from ground to shoulder height or higherMust be a physically able to stand for long periods of time (length of shift) in open air environment; wear PPE; maintain safe work environmentMust have a high awareness for safety at all timesMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results Highly qualified candidates will also possess:High School Diploma or GED equivalentSix months of previous experience in a galvanizing positionSix months of previous experience with hand tools and gauges including impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, taps, oxygen acetylene torches, and mill gaugesSix months of previous experience operating a bridge craneThe ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive mannerThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructionsCertification of heavy equipment operation including forkliftBenefitsValmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family’s overall wellness needs are met.
