Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Montgomery, AL is seeking a reliable Manufacturing Associate to join our packaging production team. The role focuses on safely stacking corrugated product, performing quality checks, setting up materials, and keeping a clean, organized workspace to meet production targets.

The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to read a tape measure, perform basic math, and communicate in English.

Qualifications

• Follow safety rules and regulations on the plant floor.
• Operate manufacturing equipment per instructions and use power hand tools.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for long shifts, climb stairs.
• Read/write/communicate in English and adhere to company policies.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform tasks including stacking corrugated product and quality checks.
• Set up materials and maintain equipment as directed.
• Keep a clean, hazard-free work area and proper PPE.
• Work in a non-climate-controlled environment and be prepared for overtime.
• Follow shift schedules and cooperate with team to meet production goals.

Primary duties include safely performing a wide range of tasks that include stacking corrugated product, conducting quality checks, material set-up, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely, demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes and operating complex machinery and have a desire to advance within the company. Candidates for consideration must be able to do the following:

• Work safely and follow Safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to operate various manufacturing equipment, follow specific directions, operate power hand tools, and other duties assigned.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Be able to lift, push, or pull 50lbs., navigate stairs, stand, walk, bend, and kneel through the entire shift.
• Be willing to work ANY shift.
• Be willing to work Overtime, as it may be required on occasion.
• Work in a non-climate-controlled environment(hot/cold)
• Stand on their feet for up to 12 hours per day.
• Must have basic math and computer skills, be able to read a tape measure, and be able to read/write/communicate in English.
• Ability to adhere to WestRock’s policies and procedures.
• PPE is a requirement for employment. Examples of required PPE are as follows: Safety toed shoes(steel or composite), ear plugs, bump camp, safety glasses, gloves, sleeves, etc.
• Absolutely NO Jewelry is allowed on the plant floor(silicone or otherwise). This includes all body piercings.
