Job summary

L & S Electric, Inc. in Hortonville, Wisconsin, is seeking a General Shop Labor to support teardown, assembly, testing, and failure analysis of locomotive-related components. The role requires basic mechanical knowledge, hand and power-tool experience, and a reliable, team‑oriented attitude.

You will work in a shop environment, standing for long periods and handling up to 50 lb loads. English fluency and legal work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude.
• Able to wear required PPE.
• Some experience with hand and power tools.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Able to stand 8 hours and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfort with grasping, pushing, pulling, tightening and fine manipulation.
• Enjoy working in a shop environment.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written).
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Teardown and Assembly of Locomotive Truck Frames.
• Teardown and Assembly of Traction Motor Combos.
• Test running and inspection of Traction Motor Combos.
• Failure analysis of the listed products.
• Roles evolve; duties may change daily.
• Products repaired/fabricated may be used in the United States and worldwide.

• Have basic mechanical knowledge.
• Able to stand for 8 hours per day with the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Are comfortable using your hands for grasping pushing, pulling, tightening, adjusting and fine manipulation of different size objects.
• You enjoy working in a shop environment.
• Fluent in English: verbal and written communication.
• Authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Responsibilities
