Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA, Inc. is hiring for an entry-level plant production role at our California facility. The position offers on-the-job training across multiple production tasks to support plant operations.

A strong work ethic and ability to follow procedures are essential, with instruction and supervision provided to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. Candidates should be comfortable with repetitive tasks, data entry, and assisting with equipment set-ups, change-overs, and packaging

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or 1 year work experience.
• Previous experience in food manufacturing or warehousing is preferred.
• Good math skills and ability to use SAP or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and efficient production support, including hand-stacking and packing.
• Follow SOPs in detail and communicate any deviations.
• Set up packaging coders and validate product codes.
• Maintain production records accurately and neatly.
• Assist with equipment change-overs, CIP/SIP, and housekeeping.
• Support audits and ensure health, safety and GMP compliance.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide safe and efficient production support, which may include: hand-stacking, case packing, housekeeping, product conveying and reclaim.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP's) in detail without deviation.
• Set-up packaging coders, validate product codes in accordance with code specifications.
• Identify and effectively communicate any out-of-specification product conditions.
• Follow the established notification protocol.
• Perform routine equipment adjustments.
• Use of various hand tools.
• Safe operation of a lift truck, moving materials throughout shift as needed/required.
• Accurately and neatly complete production records and documents.
• Assist with equipment change-overs, CIP/SIP, clean-up and equipment set-up.
• Perform department environmental controls.
• Perform product reclaim and rework operations.
• Perform product packaging and stacking operations.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Follow all established occupational health and safety procedures.
• Follow all established GMP's and Food Safety requirements.
• Cross-train with other departments.
• Perform good housekeeping within established housekeeping guidelines.
• Adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics, actively apply the Saputo Company Values and Workplace Climate Policy.
• Work together in a team environment with co-workers and other department personnel.
• Other duties as required by management.

Job requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent or (1)-year demonstrated work experience.
• Previous experience in food manufacturing, warehousing, dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Good math skills.
• Proficient computer skills, software and data entry, SAP a plus.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, in English.
• Good attendance is a must

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
• Fine manipulation and dexterity, gripping and squeezing.
• Visual acuity with the ability to see color.
• Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment and following approved chemical handling procedures.
• Physical lifting up to 50-lbs frequently throughout the shift and ability to lift 50+ lbs with assistance.
• Shift flexibility. This is a hands-on role for a 24/7 manufacturing facility. Our equipment operators are assigned to a team on a 24/7 operation to support manufacturing. This can either be rotating, days, swing or night shifts and weekends. Work days and shifts may change to help cover vacations/absences, during plant downtime or related events such as audits.

Hourly rate $28.76
