Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. in New York is seeking a Manufacturing Operator for a 12-hour rotating shift (6:00 AM–6:30 PM). You will ensure product quality, set up machines, operate metal detectors, maintain records, and support QA and GMP compliance.

You must have a high school degree, manufacturing experience, basic math, and be able to use hand/tools and MS Office. Teamwork and safety come first. Candidates should be able to read specifications, follow instructions, and rotate to multiple

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; advanced technical training a plus.
• Recent manufacturing experience as an operator demonstrating mechanical aptitude.
• Mechanical/Electrical skills preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with team members and all necessary departments.
• Able to understand production schedules and use Product Specifications.
• Experience in food production environment preferred, but not required.
• Working knowledge of harps and cutters required.
• Able to use hand and power tools.
• Good decision making and problem solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Able to perform basic math including fractions.
• Computer literate in MS Office; good computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper safety methods and procedures are followed.
• Assure cheese type and quality matches customer specs and QA standards.
• Set up machines for runs and maintain equipment PM.
• Maintain neat, accurate records and documentation.
• Operate metal detectors and complete required paperwork.
• Assist QA protocols and documentation as required by QA.
• Keep work area clean and organized; minimize waste and downtime.
• Collaborate with Supervisors, Line Leads, Shipping, and Maintenance on shifts.
• Rotate to all necessary positions as needed and adhere to GMP and safety policies.

Pay Range: $23.77 - $24.77

Major Responsibilities

• 1. Have a working knowledge of Safety Methods and Procedures. (i.e. Proper Lifting Techniques, Proper Knife Handling Techniques, MSDS, etc..)
• 2. Assure the type and quality of cheese being used matches the customer specifications, food safety & quality standards, and efficiency standards through product inspections.
• 3. Assure the machine is set up correctly for the run prior to running cheese.
• 4. Neatly, accurately and legibly maintain all records and documentation.
• 5. Operate metal detectors as needed, including completing required paperwork.
• 6. Perform minor maintenance and/or Preventative Maintenance (PM) to equipment.
• 7. Promotes and maintains accurate communications between Supervisors, Line Leads, Shipping, and Maintenance on both shifts and Sanitation.
• 8. Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) protocols and documentation as required by the QA department.
• 9. Keep work area neat, clean and organized at all times.
• 10. Minimizes waste of supplies and cheese.
• 11. Minimizes downtime.
• 12. Team oriented.
• 13. Aware of the value of all necessary tools and equipment and maintains them for optimal use.
• 14. Positive attitude toward work and co-workers.
• 15. Able to work overtime.
• 16. Able to rotate into all necessary positions.
• 17. Adheres to all policies listed in the Employee Handbook
• 18. Adheres to all policies listed in the Employee Safety Handbook and maintains a good personal safety record
• 19. Adheres to all policies and procedures relating to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), food safety including testing the metal detectors (CCP) and Saputo Management Policy Statement
• 20. Other duties as assigned by a Supervisor or Line Lead.

12-Hour Rotating Shift Schedule

Shift Schedule: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM Typically scheduled Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday.
