The Opportunity

Duston Dougherty Electric (DDE) is seeking an experienced General Journeyman Electrical Foreman & Field Crew Lead to direct on-site electrical installations, manage trade crews, and perform working trade labor across El Sobrante and the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.

In this hands-on field leadership position, you will take operational ownership of commercial, residential, and public works electrical builds—managing conduit runs, panel tie-ins, single/three-phase power distribution, and lighting control systems. Working with an established, family-owned electrical contractor dedicated to craftsmanship and reliability, you will solve on-site technical challenges, enforce jobsite safety, and ensure builds comply strictly with California Electrical Code (CEC) standards. If you hold an active California General Electrician License, bring strong blueprint reading capabilities (including Bluebeam Revu), and thrive in a working foreman role, Duston Dougherty Electric provides top-tier Bay Area hourly pay, prevailing wage project access, company vehicle support, and paid professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Crew Supervision & On-Site Command: Lead, supervise, and mentor on-site crews of journeymen and apprentice electricians—delegating daily tasks, maintaining work velocity, and ensuring compliance with DDE quality benchmarks.
  • Working Installation Execution: Perform complex hands-on electrical work alongside crew members—including rigid/EMT conduit bending, wire pulls, transformer terminations, main service panel upgrades, and switchgear sets.
  • Code & Plan Compliance: Read, interpret, and execute directly from electrical plan sets, single-line diagrams, Title 24 specs, and architectural prints; ensure all work satisfies California Electrical Code (CEC) and NEC regulations.
  • Blueprint & Tech Software Coordination: Review plan updates, markup digital markups using Bluebeam Revu, and manage daily progress logs via mobile tablet software.
  • Safety Enforcement & OSHA Audits: Enforce jobsite safety standards, conduct weekly safety talks (toolbox meetings), monitor fall protection and lift safety protocols, and ensure full PPE deployment across active work zones.
  • Management Liaison & Progress Reporting: Communicate daily project progress, material needs, field change orders, and schedule updates to company management and client representatives.
What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

Required

  • Mandatory State Licensure: Active California General Electrician Certification (Journeyman License) strictly required.
  • Field Leadership Experience: Proven track record working as a Lead Electrician, Working Crew Lead, or Electrical Foreman on commercial, public works, or residential projects.
  • Technical Electrical Mastery: Deep functional knowledge of 120V/208V/480V single and three-phase systems, motor controls, grounding/bonding, conduit layout, and transformer connections.
  • Computer & Blueprint Literacy: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook) with the functional ability to read and navigate digital blueprints (experience with Bluebeam Revu highly preferred).
  • Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills to identify electrical faults, resolve site routing conflicts, and keep projects moving on schedule.
  • Physical Endurance & Stamina: Capability to perform active trade labor, operate power tools, climb ladders/scaffolding, work on aerial lifts, and lift up to 50 lbs in dynamic jobsite environments.
  • Mobility Credentials: Valid California Driver License with an insurable driving record to operate company-provided service vehicles.

Preferred

  • Advanced Certifications: Active OSHA 10/30 Construction Safety Card, NFPA 70E Arc Flash Certification, or specialized manufacturer lighting/control credentials.
  • Public Works Experience: Direct experience running certified prevailing wage projects or municipal Bay Area builds.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Top-Tier Hourly Earnings: $55.00 to $65.00 per hour based on electrical trade experience and leadership background, paid on a dependable weekly pay cycle.
