Description
PE Systems is seeking a General/Interdisciplinary Engineer, Senior to support the strategic and operational success of NC3 (Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications) programs at Hanscom AFB, MA. General Function:
- Apply broadtheoretical and practicalengineering knowledge toplan, design, implement, and sustain secure, resilient communicationsand information systemsacross the fullsystems engineering lifecycle.
- Use established engineeringtheories, principles, concepts, standards, methods, andpractices while extendingor adapting themwhenexisting approaches donot adequately addressmission requirements.
- Resolve unique, complex, or novel engineeringproblems that mayrequiresignificant changes tostandard practices, equipment, devices, processes, technologies, or established techniques.
- Serve as asenior technical authorityby providing expertengineering adviceand recommendations toprofessional peers, programleadership, and governmentor agency officialsresponsible for broadoperational programs.
- Apply digital engineeringthroughout the programlifecycle, including providingtechnical support forModel-Based SystemsEngineering (MBSE), digitalmodels, digital artifacts, and other model-based engineering practices.
- Assessemerging and improvedtechnologies, strategies, industry trends, andapplications to determinetheir potential value,technical applicability, mission relevance, andcontribution to systemmodernization.
- Investigate, forecast, andanticipatecomplex issues thatcross multiple engineeringdisciplines and mayaffect established standards, approaches, precedents, concepts, orsystem architectures.
- Develop or collaborateon new engineeringstandards, applications, concepts, methodologies, and theories whenexisting guidance ortechnical approaches areinsufficient for missionneeds.
- Develop and advocatetechnically sound recommendations, strategies, and coursesof action toreconcile novel, conflicting, controversial, or policy-driven engineering issuesand support informedprogram decisions.
- Conduct systems engineeringneeds analyses toidentify capability gaps, mission opportunities,and potential improvementsto existing systems, processes, architectures, and engineering programs.
- Perform comprehensiveproblem and gapdefinition, trade-spaceanalysis, science andtechnology roadmap analysis, concept development, decisionanalysis, and cost/schedule/performance/capability/security trade studies.
- Incorporate system securityand resiliency engineeringdirectly into systemdesigns, ensuring solutionsaddress operational requirementsaswell as environmental, mission, threat, availability, and survivability considerations.
- Develop and evaluatecost estimates fornew, modified, ormodernized systems anduse engineering-economy principles tosupport planning, alternativesanalysis, resource decisions, and program execution.
- Evaluate proposed plans, systems engineering programs,system designs, andtest results toverify that subsystemand overall systemperformance satisfies approvedprogram requirements, specifications, and operational objectives.
- Prepare technical documentationdefining,specifying, and recommendingsystem, functional, andsubsystem characteristics, requirements, interfaces, architectures, and technicalspecifications.
- Ensure successful integrationof individual systemcomponents,subsystems, and externalsystems, addressing interfaces, dependencies, interoperability, and end-to-end system functionality.
- Design and conductsystem-level testingand validation, includingdevelopment of testcriteria and procedures, execution or oversightof tests, validationof system performance, and analysis ofmajor engineering testresults.
- Manage and sustainthe program's technicalbaseline, ensuring requirements, designs, configurations, architectures, technicaldecisions, and approvedchanges remain controlled, current, traceable, and alignedwith program objectives.
- Provide engineering, technicalsupport, and technicaltraining throughout acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, evolution, deployment/fielding, installation, and operationaloversight activities, whilealso supporting programand project risk-management processes inaccordance with AirForce practices.
- Perform Information SystemsSecurity Developer (631) and Systems Developer(632) core andadditional tasks andmaintain the knowledge, skills, and abilitiesrequired by theDoD Cyber WorkforceFramework under DoDI8140.01, DoDI 8140.02, and DoDM 8140.03.
- Analyze and recommendcommunications-system andModular Open SystemsArchitecture solutions,including approachessuch as OpenMission Systems, forintegration onto NC3host platforms; evaluateSWAP-C, hardware/software processing environments,architecture constraints, and technology limitationsto enable secure, resilient, interoperable, and sustainable NC3modernization.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
- MA Degreeand more than 10 years of related experience,OR,BA Degreeand more than 15 years of experience related to the position requirements.
- Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the TS/SCI
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project).
- Must be able to perform all functional duties independently.
- Must be able to transport self to various facility sites, as required. If using own motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position is estimated between $125K-$135K. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. PE Systems considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
