Responsibilities

• Transport packaging materials and ingredients using pallet jack, forklift, or other equipment.
• Follow all factory policies and procedures.

• Label cases and ensure correct labeling for production.
• Ensure materials are correct according to shop orders and tracked.
• Move finished goods from packaging machines and stage them properly.
• Return unused materials to staging areas and label them.
• Keep work area clean and safe at all times.
• Operate packaging machines and make minor adjustments.
• Complete machine set-ups, product hook-ups and changeovers.
• Finish paperwork such as production work orders and downtime sheets.

The Kraft Heinz Company is currently seeking General Helper / Machine Operator in our Liquid production area in Mason, OH. Successful candidates must be willing to contribute improvements suggestions and ideas to help continue the success of our facility. Ideal candidates must be safety and quality orientated along with demonstrate adaptability and willingness to work in a team orientated, fast paced work environment. This position requires individuals to perform production duties in a food manufacturing environment following strict quality and safety standards. Currently hiring for second shift (3pm-11p) positions.

Job Overview

As a general helper you’ll be a part of a dedicated team supplying machines that make anything from mustard to relish which will be enjoyed by 1000’s of consumers nationwide.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Transport packaging material and/or food ingredients from/to areas where it is needed utilizing a pallet jack, forklift, or other transport equipment. Responsible for ensuring that equipment is suitable for use and in safe operating condition.
• Responsible for following all factory policies and procedures.
• Responsible for supplying all needed raw materials & supplies to the packaging lines. For example but not limited to: product, boxes, film, labels, paper towels, tape, slip sheets etc. Additionally, responsible for monitoring scheduled and ensuring that materials are available when needed.
• Responsible for labeling all 200 pack or less cases with the correct labels and supplying them to the machines.
• Responsible for ensuring that all raw materials are correct according the shop orders and that all tracking numbers are recorded or made available for operators.
• Responsible for removing finished goods from packaging machines, labeling them with correct labels, wrapping them with stretch wrap, and then moving them to staging area.
• Responsible for returning all unused raw materials to the staging areas and responsible for marking materials with return sheets.
• Responsible for keeping work area clean at all times.
• Empty trash into containers and transport to compactor as necessary.
• Sweep floor and clean up spills as needed or directed by lead.
• Perform general cleaning throughout work areas.
• Ensure that all recycled materials are put into the proper recycling containers.
• Operating filling equipment; making minor machine adjustments.
• Performs packaging of finished product packages.
• Making corrugated boxes and partitions.
• Packing finished merchandise in boxes.
• Sealing cases with tape gun or tape machine.
• Labeling finished cases with proper identification.
• Placing finished cases on pallets using pre-determined case placements.
• Monitoring merchandise cases to insure proper weight and accurate packaging components.
• Monitoring machine scrap and follow scrap procedures. Ensure accurate hourly machine counts so that visual boards can be filled out correctly. Monitor and react to visual board information.
• Cleaning and rinsing equipment during change overs.
• Keeping work area and station clean at all times.
• Labeling sides and ends of boxes and place stickers or other identifying information as requested by particular customer.
• Operate packaging machines in compliance with procedures
• Complete machine set-ups, product hook-ups, change overs, washouts and roll changes
• Make all necessary machine adjustments as outlined in the operation guide for each packaging machine
• Accurately complete all paperwork, including production work orders, downtime sheets, weight check, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
