Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA) for General Gastroenterology in Skokie, IL. This outpatient clinic role involves a typical 40-hour workweek, with Monday–Friday hours 8 AM–5 PM, and no weekends or on-call requirements.

The APN/PA will provide comprehensive care under physician supervision, perform histories and exams, order studies, interpret results, and manage patient treatment plans in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• APN/PA licensure in IL required; Federal DEA and IL Controlled Substance License required.
• Master’s level program in GI specialty is required.
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• GI-related experience or clinical rotation in GI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations for GI patients.
• Order imaging, labs, and diagnostic tests and interpret results.
• Instruct patients on prescribed regimens and pre/post operative instructions.
• Maintain records and write progress notes on status, treatments and procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians and health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Position Highlights

• Full-Time (average of 40 hours/wk.)

• Required Travel: Evanston, Glenview, Highland Park, and Vernon Hills
• Outpatient/clinic-based role
• Exciting opportunity to join Endeavor Health Medical Group Department of General Gastroenterology!
• Under the direction of the collaborating physician(s), provides care to patients.
• Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations, orders imaging, lab tests and diagnostic procedures and interprets results.
• Instructs patients on the prescribed therapeutic regimen and pre/post operative instructions.
• Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments and procedures.
• Follows patients through their course of treatment in the clinic and hospital setting.
• Collaborates with physicians and the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate.
• Demonstrates evidence-based practice.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice in the specialty.
• Assesses the learning needs of patients and families across the continuum.
• Employs strategies, interventions and teaching to promote, maintain, and improve health.
• Provide comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribe treatments under the protocol in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease.
• Promotes wellness and prevent illness and injury in various settings for individuals, families, and communities.
• Works autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants.
• Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals.
• Supports the strategic plan of the organization.
• Adheres to all Endeavor Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• License: Advanced Practice Licensure (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in the State of IL required; Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required
• Education: Completion of Master’s level program in specialty area
• Certification: BLS/CPR certification required
• Experience: Prior experience in GI through work or student clinical rotation required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an outpatient clinic setting
