A leading organization seeks a Supervisor for Ground Maintenance operations. Responsibilities include overseeing skilled maintenance teams, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and managing grounds care duties. Ideal candidates will have supervisory experience along with a High School Diploma and relevant work history in grounds maintenance or floriculture.
Under general supervision, assists in the supervision of the maintenance of a group of workers engaged in the more skilled ground maintenance activities, floriculturist activities, and/or janitorial activities.• Supervise and schedules the work of a moderately sized group of employees engaged in skilled ground maintenance activities, floriculturist activities and/or janitorial activities. • Inspect work performed to ensure conformance to specifications and established standards.
• Instruct employees in the performance of their duties and in the care of building and grounds activities.
• Order, store, and issue cleaning/janitorial supplies, perform cleaning/janitorial activities.
• Pick up debris, mow lawns, seed, sod, fertilize, and water grass areas; plant, remove, spray, and mulch trees, shrubs, and evergreens.
• Remove snow and apply salt to walkways and parking areas.
• Prepare and maintain daily work assignments and records.
• Perform duties related to skilled ground maintenance activities, floriculturist activities, and/or janitorial activities.
• Perform duties in accordance with Departmental safety procedures including, but not limited to, the utilization of designated personal protective equipment and ensure proper safety precautions are taken, in accordance with MIOSHA standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.• High School Diploma or G.E. D.
• Two (2) years experience in the care and maintenance of grounds, lawns, landscape and/or janitorial/cleaning work, and one (1) year of supervisory experience. OR
• High School Diploma or G.E. D.
• Four (4) years experience in garden and greenhouse work including planning and laying out work for a group of workers engaged in the care of native and tropical plants, annuals, perennials, and other outdoor plant material, and one (1) year of supervisory experience.
