Job summary

Palms Casino Resort is seeking a General Engineer to thoroughly learn and operate the fire alarm system and maintain and repair kitchen equipment, walk-in coolers and freezers, boilers, water heaters, pumps, and plumbing. The role involves preventative and corrective maintenance across electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems, with documentation of all data.

The position requires reading schematics, using hand/power tools, and responding to emergencies as well as coordinating with management

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21 and a valid Nevada driver’s license.
• Experience in refrigeration is required.
• Ability to read and apply technical material, schematics and blueprints.
• EPA certification is required.
• Strong communication with guests, team and management.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Trade school or equivalent education preferred for role.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and related systems.
• Troubleshoot system problems and take corrective actions.
• Respond to emergencies (fire, power outages, gas or water leaks).
• Maintain records of all maintenance and repairs.
• Notify management about major repairs or system additions.
• Maintain equipment per PM procedures and assist with parts replacement.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Working closely with the Assistant Chief Engineer, the General Engineer will play an important role by becoming thoroughly familiar with all phases of operation and maintenance necessary to operate the fire alarm system and repair all kitchen equipment, walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, boilers, water heaters, pumps, and plumbing. Performs all repairs, maintenance, and replacement of parts for preventative maintenance schedule and accurately records all pertinent data. Install new equipment and systems as directed. Maintain the facility through preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and other related systems.

Core Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and other related systems.
• Troubleshoot problems with systems and take appropriate corrective action.
• Respond to emergency situations such as fire, power outage, gas or water leaks.
• Maintain equipment with standard preventative maintenance procedures.
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Maintain records on all equipment maintenance and repair.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid Nevada driver's license.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, and management.
• Must be able to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
• Preferred: Trade school graduate or equivalent experience.
• Three (3) years of experience in a commercial or industrial setting preferred.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Refrigeration required.
• Must be able to safely and effectively operate hand and power tools.
• Must be able to read, comprehend, and apply technical material, schematics, and blueprints.
• Basic knowledge of Health Department, ADA, and OSHA codes and regulations.
• Must be EPA certified.

Physical Demands:

• Work is performed in both indoor (including coolers and freezers) and outdoor settings.
• Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
• May be exposed to smoke.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Constant contact with executives, department management, team members, and guests.
• Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility.
• Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.
• Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Eye/hand coordination.
• Use of standard office equipment.
• Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
