Job summary

Davenport Community Schools at North High School in Davenport, Iowa is seeking a Gen Ed Para Educator for a 3-hour daily role. The position supports MTSS, PBIS, and instructional activities to help all students succeed in a structured learning environment.

The ideal candidate will assist teachers, input data into the student information system, and maintain positive relationships with a diverse student body. Strong attendance and communication with staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with MTSS and PBIS is desirable.
• Good attendance and punctuality are essential.
• Ability to input data into student data systems and manipulate spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Will work collaboratively with teachers in MTSS to assist in the success of all students.
• Will teach, model, and support PBIS in all building situations.
• Will work with students in skills room.
• Ability to work with ALL students.
• Computer skills are necessary to input data into student data system and manipulate spreadsheets.
• With classroom teachers, establish a positive learning environment while maintaining a structured setting.
• Assist with and support classroom teacher with instruction.
• Work collaboratively with teachers using developmentally appropriate practices, including following teacher's direction for instruction.
• Assist teacher in monitoring students' progress by keeping necessary records and giving feedback as requested.
• Willingness to work with students in a positive manner that will help develop and/or enhance the practice of self-discipline.
• Maintain patience and positive interpersonal skills with all students.
• Walk hallways during class time and/or during passing time, reporting any issues to office staff
• Communicate with instructional staff daily regarding instruction and student issues
• Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each student reaches his/her full potential
• Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully
• Skilled, understands and utilizes MTSS or willingness to be trained/knowledgeable
• Skilled, understands and utilizes PBIS or willingness to be trained/knowledgeable
• Other duties as assigned by building administrator
