Job summary

Brookings School District 05-1 is seeking a General Education Instructional Assistant Level 1 to support certified staff in delivering instruction at Brookings High School’s Credit Recovery Classroom. The role is full-time with benefits and rewards such as partial health/dental premiums and life insurance.

Starting pay is $17.93 per hour with training provided by the employer. The position emphasizes helping students, managing learning activities, and maintaining records within a positive school

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework or equivalent.
• Knowledge of English usage, grammar and punctuation.
• Ability to assist with learning activities and supervise students.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional personnel with learning materials and activities.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups.
• Monitor and assist students during practice and study activities.
• Direct students in safe learning activities and behavior management.
• Prepare instructional materials and learning aids for use with individuals or small groups.
• Maintain records and confidential student information.
• Operate educational media equipment and devices.
• May administer and score tests and record results.
• Requisition and store textbooks, materials, and equipment.
• Provide routine first aid and seek assistance for injuries.
• Maintain a positive and orderly learning environment.
• Participate in parent conferences and progress report activities.
