Pinewood Elementary School in Monticello Public Schools is seeking a caring Education Support Specialist to assist a student with developmental needs on a temporary basis. The role involves supporting functional academics, classroom activities, outdoor activities, toileting tasks, behavior support, self-care, and other duties to meet the student's needs.

Hours are 6.75 per day, Monday through Friday, with an anticipated start on 11/3/2026.

Job Description:

Pinewood Elementary School is seeking a caring, dependable Education Support Specialist to support a student with developmental needs for a temporary assignment. The position includes supporting students with functional academics, mainstream classroom activities, outdoor activities, toileting (including diapering), assisting with behaviors, self-cares, as well as any and all other activities/duties that are needed to meet the needs of students in the program.

Required Qualifications (one of the following):

• 60 semester college credits
• Passing Score on the ParaEducator test
• Ability to follow health care plans and maintain confidentiality
• Strong communication skills and a student-centered mindset
• Dependable, flexible, and able to respond to student needs throughout the day
• Passionate about working with children
• Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
• Supervise students as directed by the supervisor
• Establishes a culture for learning by supporting the mission, beliefs and the strategic plan of the district
• Maintain confidentiality of information about students, staff and families
• Experience working with diverse students and families

Employment with Monticello Public Schools is contingent upon a satisfactory pre-employment background check, approval of the school board, and verification of meeting special education qualifications above.
