Job Summary

Lowry Family Dental has an opportunity for a PRN/Intermittent dentist to join our general dental practice at Lowry Family Health Center. Under minimal supervision, diagnose, prevent, and treat problems with teeth or mouth tissue. Remove decay, fill cavities, examine, x-rays, place protective plastic sealants on children's teeth, straighten teeth, and repair fractured teeth. Perform corrective surgery on gums and supporting bones to treat gum diseases. Extract teeth and make models and measurements for dentures to replace missing teeth. Provide instruction on diet, brushing, flossing, the use of fluorides, and other aspects of dental care. Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications.

Essential Functions
  1. Dental Services: Performs professional dental care including restorative dentistry, exodontia, and visual examination of the oral cavity, analyzing x-rays and diagnostic procedures, removing decay, extracting or restoring teeth, examining teeth and gums, diagnosing diseases, and planning treatments. Treats diseases of teeth, gums, and mouth with appropriate medication. (30%)
  2. Treatment Plan: Formulates treatment plans, maintains charts, and completes reports. (20%)
  3. Medication Management: Administers anesthetics, writes prescriptions for antibiotics and medications. (15%)
  4. Patient Education: Educates patients on preventative dentistry and oral hygiene, and advises on dental care. (10%)
  5. Prosthetics: Authorizes manufacturing of dental prosthetics by laboratories. (10%)
  6. Supervision: Manages dental staff when appropriate. (10%)
  7. Referrals: Refers patients for appropriate healthcare procedures and communicates effectively with specialists. (5%)
Education
  • Doctorate Degree Required
Work Experience
  • 1-3 years, with at least one year since completion of training
Licenses
  • DDS/DMD - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • DEA Registration
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of dental principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Skill in diagnosing dental problems, developing treatment plans, and maintaining records.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships and adapt to new information.
  • Computer skills required.
