Columbia Dental - Full-Time General Dentist
Columbia Dental, a multi-specialty dental practice, is seeking a full-time General Dentist for its New Haven, CT location. The ideal candidate should be familiar with all scopes of general dentistry and possess experience in diverse dental procedures. The position offers a competitive pay structure of $235,000 base per year or 40% of collections, whichever is higher. Benefits include malpractice coverage, 401k, medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, and continuing education. Relocation fee and sign-on bonus may be negotiated for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Meet with patients to discuss their dental health, habits, problems, and concerns.
- Use professional tools and equipment to examine and treat patients' teeth, gums, and oral tissues.
- Diagnose dental illnesses or infections.
- Prescribe medications such as painkillers and antibiotics.
- Develop and implement treatment plans to improve patients' oral health.
- Instruct patients on proper oral care practices.
- Refer patients to specialists when necessary.
- Provide comprehensive dental services to children, adults, and the elderly in accordance with clinical standards, protocols, and legal regulations.
Additional Duties
- Review medical histories at every visit.
- Examine and assess patients, chart pathologic conditions, and communicate findings.
- Hold informed consent discussions and document them properly.
- Document all treatments in accordance with company policies and sign records.
- Monitor and direct the clinical performance of dental hygienists, support staff, and students or residents.
- Supervise x-ray procedures and ensure quality control.
- Assist with staff training, orientation, and continuing education.
- Comply with OSHA and HIPAA regulations regarding safety and confidentiality.
- Maintain all required certifications and licenses.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD).
- Valid state dental license.
- Deep understanding of oral hygiene and dental procedures.
- Experience in diagnosing and treating dental conditions.
- Excellent communication skills with patients.
- Compassion, patience, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility to stand, walk, reach, climb, and bend; ability to stand for prolonged periods.
- Manual dexterity for operating equipment and writing.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
