Qualifications

Job description

Rawlins County Dental Clinic is a nonprofit, full-service dental clinic based in Atwood, Kansas, dedicated to expanding access to quality, affordable oral health care. The clinic serves residents across more than 13 counties in Northwest Kansas as well as communities in Southwest Nebraska. As a mission-driven organization, the clinic focuses on providing comprehensive dental services to patients who might otherwise face barriers to care. Role Description

The General Dentist is a full-time, on-site position located in Atwood, KS. This role involves providing comprehensive dental care, including examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative procedures, preventive services, and minor oral surgery as appropriate. The dentist will educate patients on oral health, collaborate with dental assistants and hygienists, and maintain accurate, compliant clinical records. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing a diverse patient schedule, ensuring high standards of infection control and safety, and contributing to a positive, respectful clinic culture. The dentist will also support the clinic’s mission by delivering care to patients of varying ages, backgrounds, and financial situations.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school.
• Unrestricted Kansas dental license (or eligibility to obtain), and current CPR/BLS certification.
• Clinical proficiency in general dentistry, including diagnostics, restorative procedures, preventive care, and basic oral surgery.
• Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain treatment options and provide compassionate care to individuals of all ages.
• Commitment to community-oriented care and improving access to dental services in rural and underserved areas.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary dental team and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Experience in nonprofit or community health settings is beneficial but not required.
• Willingness to participate in continuing education and maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in dentistry and infection control.
