Job summary

Oasis is a small independent consumer health testing platform based in Los Angeles, and we are hiring our first General Counsel. This is not a quiet in-house role: we publish independent test results and face legal pressure from larger players.

You will be the legal owner for the whole company, reporting directly to the founder. You will guide strategy, manage litigation, regulatory issues, contracts, IP, and governance while keeping operations lean.

Qualifications

• Extensive litigation experience in in-house or publisher environments.
• Strong grounding in defamation and false advertising law.
• Experience defending publishers and content platforms is a plus.
• Ability to navigate FTC, Prop 65, state consumer protection issues.
• Capable of directing outside counsel and managing legal spend.

Responsibilities

• Manage active litigation and coordinate outside counsel.
• Run pre-publication legal review of test results and content.
• Own regulatory questions across FTC advertising rules, Prop 65, and state laws.
• Negotiate and manage commercial contracts and partnerships.
• Handle trademarks and IP matters.
• Oversee corporate governance, insurance, and CA/DE LLC compliance.
• Build lightweight legal processes for a small team publishing fast.
