Job summary

Sifflet is seeking a General Counsel to lead all legal and compliance matters as we scale across Europe and the US. You will advise the CEO and leadership, draft and negotiate enterprise SaaS contracts, DPAs, and NDAs, and shape governance, fundraising, and equity programs.

Ideal candidates are French bar-certified with 8+ years in high-growth SaaS/tech, fluent in French and English, and ready to manage cross-border regulatory requirements and international employment matters.

Qualifications

• French bar-certified lawyer with 8+ years experience in SaaS/tech.
• Experience in corporate governance, fundraising, and data protection (GDPR).
• Familiarity with US law and international expansion.
• Excellent communicator able to translate legal concepts for business.
• Fluent in French and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Legal Function and scale the legal department across Europe and the US.
• Draft, review, and negotiate enterprise SaaS agreements, DPAs, NDAs, and partnerships.
• Support governance, shareholder relations, and equity/ESOP administration; advise on financing rounds.
• Ensure GDPR, EU data/AI compliance, and security standards; monitor AI regulation changes.
• Provide guidance on French labor law and international employment matters.
• Support hiring and subsidiary setup in new markets; cross-border collaboration with US teams.

We’re hiring our first General Counsel to lead all legal and compliance matters as we expand globally. This is a unique opportunity for a French bar–certified lawyer who wants to join a fast-growing SaaS/AI company at a formative stage, working closely with the CEO and leadership team.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the Legal Function
  • Establish and scale Sifflet’s legal department as the company grows across Europe and the US.
  • Act as trusted advisor to the CEO, board, and leadership team.
• Commercial & Customer Contracts
  • Draft, review, and negotiate enterprise SaaS agreements, data processing agreements, NDAs, and strategic partnerships.
  • Structure scalable processes for high-volume enterprise deals.
• Corporate Governance & Fundraising
  • Support governance, shareholder relations, and equity/ESOP administration.
  • Partner with leadership on financing rounds and corporate structuring (France HQ, US subsidiary).
• Regulatory & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, EU data/AI regulations, and security standards (ISO, SOC2).
  • Monitor emerging AI legislation in France, the EU, and beyond — and turn compliance into a competitive advantage.
• Employment & HR Legal Support
  • Provide guidance on French labor law matters and international employment frameworks.
  • Support hiring and subsidiary setup in new markets.
• Cross-Border Perspective
  • While the role is rooted in French law, knowledge of US commercial law and contract frameworks is a strong plus, supporting our US expansion.

What We’re Looking For

• French bar–certified lawyer with at least 8+ years of experience, ideally a mix of law firm and in‑house at a high‑growth SaaS/tech company.
• Deep expertise in French commercial law; strong understanding of contract negotiation for enterprise SaaS.
• Experience with corporate governance, fundraising, and data protection (GDPR).
• Familiarity with US law and international expansion is a strong bonus.
• Business‑oriented and pragmatic: you balance risk with growth.
• Excellent communicator, able to translate legal concepts into clear guidance for business stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial mindset – thrives in fast‑paced, scaling environments.
• Full professional proficiency in French and English.
