Job summary

UNIS, located in Buena Park, CA, is seeking a General Counsel to lead legal strategy, oversee corporate compliance, and manage all legal processes. The role emphasizes contracts, labor law, risk management, and mergers and acquisitions within logistics operations.

The candidate will draft and negotiate contracts, update compliance policies, and coordinate with external advisors while guiding governance and regulatory matters. JD and CA bar admission required.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in California.
• Proven experience as a General Counsel or similar role.
• Experience with Real Estate and/or Labor / Employment Law.
• Strong understanding of business and supply chain logistics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in risk management and contract drafting.

Responsibilities

• Advise on a variety of legal issues including contracts, labor law, risk management, and other legal matters relevant to our logistics and supply chain operations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents including contracts, agreements, policies, and other legal correspondence.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings (administrative boards, court trials, etc.).
• Assist with mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, negotiation, and integration.
• Oversee compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, updating policies as necessary.
• Collaborate with external legal advisors as needed.
• Conduct and coordinate research on various legal issues.
• Train and educate employees on legal and compliance matters.
• Provide proactive legal assistance and advice on various legal issues such as commercial contracts, dispute resolution, regulatory, employment, and governance.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly qualified General Counsel to join our team. This individual will be responsible for providing expert and strategic legal advice to management, handling all corporate legal processes, and ensuring legal compliance across our operations.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the bar in the state of California.
• Proven experience as a General Counsel or similar role.
• Experience with Real Estate and/or Labor / Employment Law
• Strong understanding of business and supply chain logistics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in risk management and conflict resolution.
• Experience in negotiating and drafting contracts.
• Knowledge of MS Office and legal software.
