Job summary

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, part of Atrium Health, seeks a full-time Nocturnist Cardiology Acute Care NP or PA for Carolinas Medical Center in the Greater Charlotte area. The APP will work with cardiology MDs and other APPs to manage in-hospital care across General Cardiology, EP, Interventional/Structural Heart, and Heart Failure services.

The role requires independent assessment, collaboration with on-call physicians, and commitment to high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program and current North Carolina license.
• Acute Care Certification for NPs; NC prescriptive privileges/DEA as required.
• Experience in Cardiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new admissions and consults with HPI and exam; document in EMR.
• Diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions.
• Order and interpret tests (labs, ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, imaging).
• Collaborate with inpatient teams and sign out patients at shift end.
• Maintain ACLS/BLS certification and comply with credentialing requirements.
• Engage in staff education and quality initiatives.

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, a part of Atrium Health, is looking for a full-time Nocturnist Cardiology Acute Care NP or PA to provide quality care to the patients we serve in the Greater Charlotte community at Carolinas Medical Center. The APP will be part of a team of specialized cardiology MDs and APPs. The APP will direct in-hospital care and perform medical acts both independently and in collaboration with on-call physicians. The nightshift APP will cover all cardiology specialty services- including General Cardiology, Electrophysiology (EP), Interventional/Structural Heart, and Heart Failure/VAD/Transplant.The APP will triage and perform consults and admissions, collect, synthesize, and document data, order appropriate laboratory studies and diagnostic testing, and consult other services when appropriate. The APP should be competent in taking medical histories, assessing medical conditions of patients, interpreting findings, and formulating an assessment and plan independently. The APP should possess the ability to maintain quality assurance and quality control standards. The APP should be able to implement effective communication skills with both patients and colleagues that demonstrate a commitment to consistently providing an excellent patient experience for every patient.

Cardiology AGACNP or PA

• Evaluate new admissions and consults efficiently. Perform an accurate history and physical exam. Document thoroughly and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
• Diagnose and treat conditions in the cardiovascular population.
• Order and facilitate indicated testing; including lab work, ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, MRIs, CTs, and cardiac catheterizations. Explain risks and benefits of procedures to the patient and family.
• Has the ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
• Work closely with inpatient teams and sign out patients to appropriate services at the end of each shift.
• Participate in evaluations with the primary supervising physician as directed by State laws.
• Maintain ACLS and BLS certification as well as all licenses and certifications as mandated by the Hospital Credentialing Committee.
• Exhibits respect for others by displaying a positive, courteous attitude at all times.
• Participates in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education for job related growth.

Shifts

NIGHT SHIFT; 7 on 7 off 9p-8a

Position Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program. Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS/ACLS Certified.
• Nurse practitioners are required to have Acute Care Certification.
• Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required.
• Experience in Cardiology preferred
