The role emphasizes daily rounds, admissions, discharges, and clinic scheduling, with a 40-hour week across 4x10-hour shifts.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program.
  • Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina (or eligible).
  • Prescriptive privileges and DEA license required.
  • ACNP or AGACNP certification based on population served.
  • Nurse practitioners require Acute Care Certification; PAs require NCCPA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient rounds, admissions, and discharges; collaborate with supervising physician and multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform clinic visits and pre/post-procedural care in inpatient/outpatient settings.
  • Manage patient care with orders for labs, imaging, and ECG interpretation.
  • Work a full-time, 4x10-hour hybrid schedule (inpatient/outpatient) with no night shift or on-call.

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute's Interventional and Structural Heart Program is seeking a Full-time advanced practice provider (APP) to join our growing team.

  • This position is occupied by board certified physician assistants and/or acute care nurse practitioners trained and proficient in providing cardiac services.

  • The APP in this position will function at the top of their license in the inpatient hospital and outpatient clinic-based setting in collaboration with a supervising physician and other members of a multidisciplinary team.

  • This role will be an integral component of a high functioning multidisciplinary team of providers including cardiology APPs, interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and imaging cardiologists.

  • The APP is responsible for inpatient daily rounds, consultations, admissions, and discharges, along with clinic appointments.

  • The APP is competent inpatient examinations, medication management, and ordering laboratory/radiologic testing and interpretation of results, including ECGs.

Position Responsibilities
  • This is a medical cardiology role. APP is not expected to perform procedures but will manage patients pre and post procedurally.

  • APP is expected to perform admission, rounding, consult and discharge notes on patients in the inpatient and ED setting, along with same day procedure setting. APP is also expected to adequately perform clinic visits in the outpatient setting.

  • Full time day shift, 40-hour work week, 4 x 10-hour shifts. No call or night shift.

  • Setting that they will be working – Hybrid (inpatient/outpatient). APP is expected to see 14 outpatients on a full day of clinic.

  • Opportunity to participate in committees, teaching – Opportunities to participate in committees, especially those around improving care for individual service line. APP is expected to participate in education of APP fellows, MD students, residents, or in onboarding of new APPs.

  • Work independently and work well with a team. He or she will be responsible for the management of patients undergoing catheter-based interventions for coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease, along with providing general cardiology care and heart failure management in an inpatient and outpatient setting.

Position Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program. Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS/ACLS Certified.

  • Nurse practitioners with Master's degree of Doctorate of Nursing Practice. ACNP, AGACNP required based on population served.

  • Nurse practitioners are required to have Acute Care Certification

  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required.

Ideal Candidate Qualities:
  • 1+ years of experience as a provider required; experience in Cardiology

  • Highly motivated with superb communication and organizational skills with a commitment to provide quality care to the patients we serve in the Greater Charlotte community

Essential Functions
  • Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
  • Records findings of examinations, assessments and plan of care.
  • Performs minor office-based medical and/or surgical procedures.
  • Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications.
  • Orders and interprets daily laboratory and radiology examinations.
  • Determines treatment plan for patient.
  • Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record.
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the population served.
  • Attends, participates and contributes to group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures when requested.
Physical Requirements

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations.

Education, Experience and Certifications.

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations. Schedule primarily composed of weekday shifts, less than or equal to 200 hours of weekend and/or night coverage.

Nurse Practitioner

Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. ACNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PNP, or PNP-AC board certification preferred based population served.
