Job summary

Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Full-Time Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider to join an established practice. You will provide comprehensive patient care in collaboration with supervising physicians, work day shifts with rotating weekends, and have opportunities for autonomy.

No OR duties and no on-call requirements. Ideal candidates are NP/PA program graduates with NC licensure, prescriptive privileges, and relevant certifications

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited NP or PA program with NC licensure.
• Prescriptive privileges and DEA license required.
• ACNP/NCCPA certification applicable for role.
• Experience in cardiology or cardiothoracic care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide comprehensive care for cardiothoracic patients with supervising physician.
• Assess, diagnose, treat, educate, and consult in collaboration with supervising physician.
• Work in inpatient setting on a 4×10 hour day shift with rotating weekends.
• No operating room duties and no on-call responsibilities.
• Perform procedures such as talc pleurodesis, autologous blood patch, TPA instillation, chest tube removal, and wound VAC placements.
• Travel to other sites may be required.

Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute – Charlotte, is currently seeking a Full-Time Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider to join their established practice in Charlotte, NC. You'll be joining a great team atmosphere with opportunities for autonomy. Our surgeons are readily available and easy to work with. Our busy practice provides plenty of opportunities for continued growth while remaining centrally location.

Practice Highlights:

• The practice has 12 cardiac and thoracic surgeons across SHVI and 28 surgical APPs at three sites
• Busy practice averaging 1500 cases a year between cardiac and thoracic services
• The practice is structured with inpatient, outpatient and surgical teams and utilizes a closed ICU

Job Summary

• Coordinate, provide, and assist in providing comprehensive quality patient care to the Cardiothoracic patients in collaboration with a supervising physician.
• Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral, and consultation in collaboration with a supervising physician.
• Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served.
• Candidate must be able to work independently and efficiently with strong decision-making skills. Strong communication skills a must. Will be working with a variety of MDs, APPs and ancillary staff for inpatient managementand coordination of patient care.
• Work in the inpatient setting on a daylight rotating four, 10-hour shift schedule with rotating weekend coverage. Anticipate to work 1 weekend every 3-4 weeks.
• No OR responsibilities. No call. Travel may be required to other sites.
• Procedures, including bedside talc pleurodesis, autologous blood patch, TPA instillation, chest tube removal, pericardial drain removal, and wound vac placements.

Ideal candidates:

• Graduated from an accredited NP or PA program AND maintain a current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS/ACLS Certified.
• Physician Assistants: certification from the NCCPA required
• Nurse Practitioners: Acute Care NP Certification required
• Experience in cardiology, cardiothoracic or vascular surgery preferred
