Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthesia in main OR, ambulatory surgery center, and obstetrical suite using general, regional, and sedation techniques.
  • Care for a broad range of cases including general surgery, orthopedics, vascular, robotics, GU, GYN, and renal transplant.
  • Supervise residents in a 2-OR care team model during daytime clinical assignments.
  • Participate in obstetric anesthesia coverage with resident support; low-volume OB service (~400–500 deliveries annually).
  • No trauma, cardiac, or neuro anesthesia.
  • Participate in clinical teaching and supervision of residents and medical students.
  • Provide classroom instruction and evaluate residents and students per standards.
  • Mentor trainees in research and scholarly activities.
  • Contribute to departmental administrative responsibilities.
  • 4-call/grid (approx. one call per week). Call begins 3:00 PM; coverage includes main OR and obstetrical suite with three residents; occasional urgent cases.

The Department of Anesthesiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a General Anesthesiologist to join our academic anesthesiology faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor (HS).
