Job summary

Cincinnatus LLC is hiring a senior engineering and software domain expert to work with a leading AI lab's research and program management teams. The role focuses on reviewing engineering knowledge work, writing instruction specs, and building benchmarks for model evaluation.

This is a full-time W-2 engagement, located in the Bay Area, CA, hybrid with on-site requirements. You should have a Bachelor's in CS (MS/PhD preferred), 4+ years of production software experience, domain depth, AI fluency,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline. An MS or PhD is strongly preferred.
• 4+ years of substantive professional engineering practice, building and shipping production software or engineered systems at a reputable organization.
• Genuine specialization in at least one area such as distributed systems, ML systems, or developer tooling.
• Clear progression to a senior level (Senior, Staff, Principal, Architect, or Engineering Lead).
• Hands-on use of large language models in professional work.

Responsibilities

• Review the quality of engineering knowledge work tasks and write instruction specs and golden solutions.
• Build benchmarks and evaluation sets to assess model performance.
• Design engineering tasks that reflect real-world practices and provide explicit criteria for evaluation.
• Coordinate with client researchers to keep standards consistent and translate tacit judgment into teachable criteria.
