Job summary

Verisk is seeking a hands-on Manager, Generative AI to lead a globally distributed team of engineers delivering production-grade GenAI products. You will shape the technical direction for GenAI, translate business needs into scalable solutions, and shepherd projects from concept to deployment.

You'll combine software engineering excellence with AI/ML expertise and people leadership, influencing architecture, evaluation, and operational practices across the GenAI lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of industry experience in software, data science, or ML with leadership experience.
• 2+ years hands-on experience building GenAI/LLM solutions, preferably production apps.
• Experience architecting and operating large-scale production software, AI/ML systems or data platforms.
• Strong understanding of LLMs, embeddings, RAG, prompt engineering, and modern GenAI architectures.
• Strong Python skills and experience with AI/ML frameworks and tooling.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and production deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop globally distributed engineering teams through hands-on technical leadership, performance management, mentoring, and coaching.
• Architect, design, develop, and deliver production-grade GenAI products with quality, security, and cost efficiency.
• Guide decisions on LLMs, RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and agentic AI patterns.
• Establish GenAI evaluation, testing, observability, and production monitoring processes.
• Evaluate foundation models and platforms; make build-vs-buy decisions.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and delivery plans.
• Drive engineering best practices across the GenAI lifecycle; resolve delivery challenges.
• Communicate decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and priorities to engineering and execs.
