Job summary

Capital Group seeks an AI Engineer Lead to partner with investment professionals and business teams to turn ambiguous problems into robust AI solutions. You will lead discovery, design, development, and production deployment of generative AI applications, including retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agents, and copilots.

You will ensure safety, cost awareness, and compliance in scalable systems. You will work closely with risk, security, and data teams to embed controls, instrumentation,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience building and shipping LLM-powered apps.
• Design and build end-to-end RAG pipelines.
• Strong system design, APIs, and distributed systems knowledge.
• Experience implementing evals and guardrails for non-deterministic systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a large, regulated organization.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• Experience with security, privacy, and compliance controls in production systems.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to understand workflows and translate needs into technical specs.
• Design, build, and operate production generative AI applications at scale.
• Architect and implement retrieval-augmented generation pipelines end-to-end.
• Develop agentic workflows and safe, auditable AI solutions.
• Define acceptance criteria, build evaluation harnesses, and measure performance.
• Own end-to-end delivery from discovery to production and observability.
