Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Staff or Senior Machine Learning Scientist to lead advanced GenAI and ML model development, focusing on healthcare applications and strategic AI initiatives. You will work with IT, operations, and clinical teams to deploy scalable, responsible AI solutions and mentor junior staff across disciplines.

Applicants should have strong ML fundamentals, plus experience in NLP and multi-modal AI, with cloud and MLOps familiarity.

Qualifications

MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
Seven+ years of hands-on AI/ML R&D with GenAI/LLMs post-PhD
OR 10+ years with Master’s
Expertise with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face to build and tune foundation models
Deep learning and GenAI techniques in NLP and multi-modal representations
Strong Python or similar programming skills
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Experience developing and deploying AI in healthcare is a plus

Responsibilities

Develop, train, fine-tune, and optimize GenAI and ML models for healthcare problems
Design experiments to evaluate model performance
Collaborate with IT, operations, and clinical teams to integrate AI solutions
Mentor interns, junior staff, scientists, and engineers
Stay current with GenAI, LLMs, and AI tech developments
Help shape technology roadmaps for AI projects
Present project updates to teams and partners
Perform other duties as assigned
